My husband and I are not travellers. Although many might think we’re weird, we don’t feel the need to explore faraway places. We prefer familiar settings. We enjoy spending time with our family, having meals together, and spending quality time with each other.

We like to stay in nice resorts, enjoy the amenities, scenic views and tasty food while spending time with each other. Because let me be honest. We are three family members including my toddler, and we are busy with our schedules. Son has his school and activities. I have a business to run. My husband heads a department at a company. So, our weekdays are all about our routines.

And whenever we get a few days to spend together, we don’t like the hassle of dealing with airports or railway stations, flights or trains, and crowded spaces.

Besides, I like ‘control’. Having access to my things, my laptop, whenever I need it is very convenient. It’s because I love what I do. I love the freedom my work provides me with by allowing me to make money. I don’t feel the need to leave it to relax. I relax through my work.

In the last two years, we have taken several mini vacations in different cities around Delhi-NCR. We stayed in various hotels and resorts. Everytime we share a story on insta or pictures on whatsapp status, our friends ask for the locations and reviews.

So, I decided to make my citywise list of resorts and write our experiences.

And whenever I put the pictures of our vacations on my status, people start asking about our location and stays. And hence I decided to do a whole blog about the resorts and the reviews.

Here are three resorts we recently stayed in Haridwar

Amatra by Ganges – Mesmerizing Retreat

Our stay at Amatra by Ganges in 2021 was an unforgettable experience. Nestled just a few kilometers before the vibrant city of Haridwar, this resort offers a serene escape with the majestic Ganges gracing its banks.

The property itself is a gem, boasting a captivating ambiance that seamlessly blends luxury and nature. The highlight of our stay was witnessing the incredible sight of helicopter parked on-site, prepped for the spiritual journey from Haridwar to Kedarnath. The energy and anticipation in the air were truly enchanting as we watched the helicopters being fueled and prepared for the sacred voyage.

Amatra by Ganges offers more than just a stay; it’s an immersion into the tranquil beauty of the surroundings. The presence of the Ganges riverbank adds an ethereal touch to the entire experience, creating a soothing backdrop for relaxation and reflection.

If you’re seeking a retreat that offers not only comfortable accommodation but also the chance to witness the interplay of nature and spirituality, Amatra by Ganges is the perfect destination. Our memories of watching those helicopters take flight against the backdrop of the Ganges will forever remain a cherished part of our stay.

Ekaanta – An Experiential Wellness Retreat: Where Luxury Meets Serenity!

My recent visit to Ekaanta: A Luxury Retreat was a serene escape accompanied by my mother and mother-in-law. Making it even more special, it was my MIL’s first-ever trip to Haridwar, and her longing for a serene Ganga bath guided my decision to choose a resort right at the heart of Har Ki Pauri. The experience was nothing short of exceptional.

Our accommodation was outstanding, with a room that exuded comfort and sophistication. What truly stood out was the proximity of the Ganga ghat right in front of our room, creating an atmosphere of tranquility that seeped into every moment of our stay.

The culinary offerings were a delight. The simplicity of the food was its charm, and we relished every bite. But the true highlight was the mindfulness session led by Dr. Chhetri Ji. This experience left an indelible mark on us, instilling a sense of peace and balance. Both my mother and mother-in-law were overjoyed, their spirits uplifted.

Unsurprisingly, the Ganga bath became a favorite pastime for them, enjoyed multiple times during our stay. However, a small note of caution: the food options are somewhat limited. Ekaanta distinguishes itself as more of a wellness retreat rather than a conventional resort, which might be an essential consideration for some travelers.

In conclusion, Ekaanta: A Luxury Retreat is an oasis of tranquility that exceeded our expectations. The combination of luxury, natural beauty, and holistic experiences made our stay truly special. If you’re seeking a space to unwind, connect with nature, and indulge in wellness, Ekaanta should undoubtedly find its place on your travel itinerary.

Dev Nadi: A Heritage Gem with Culinary Delights

During my recent stay at Dev Nadi, a heritage hotel known for its exceptional cuisine, I found myself torn between its culinary delights and the feeling of congestion that prevailed. It’s worth noting that my visit aligned with the peak season, which may have contributed to the crowded atmosphere.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of Dev Nadi was its delectable food offerings. The flavors and presentation were a testament to their culinary expertise, leaving a lasting impression. However, the sense of congestion was hard to ignore, and it’s likely that the influx of guests during the busy season played a role in this.

While the staff’s cordiality was apparent, there seemed to be instances where their experience fell short in handling the rush that accompanies peak periods. This led to moments of slight disarray, albeit well-intentioned.

For families with young children, a word of caution is warranted. The hotel’s proximity to the Ganga ghat, although picturesque, demands careful supervision, particularly in the porch area. Safety measures become paramount, ensuring that the beauty of the surroundings doesn’t overshadow the need for vigilance.

In conclusion, Dev Nadi stands as a heritage hotel with remarkable culinary offerings, providing a taste of its rich history. However, it’s important to consider the timing of your visit, as peak seasons might lead to congestion. Additionally, while the staff is friendly, some gaps in handling busy periods were apparent. Families with young ones should exercise caution around the nearby Ganga ghat.
